gatsby came to us b/c a friend of a friend had gotten him when he was 2 months old and unfortunately found out she was allergic to his fur. i was immediately in love with him and he bonded with our other dog, dio right away. gatsby likes to do this weird thing where he'll wrap himself up in a sheet or comforter and thus we've dubbed him the "burrito". b/c he has a long, sausage-like body, we also call him a "sausage burrito". one day i looked in his cage where he has a bunch of linens, and he was so wrapped up, i couldn't find his face! when people see gatsby, they always guess that he's either part beagle, part bassett hound, or part korgi and none of them are correct. however, we know what breeds he is mixed with and i wanted people to try and figure it out! we love his peppy personality. he is about 13months old and weighs 30 pounds. he's certainly great! although we can't take credit for the awesome name... |

Gigi is a spayed female Eskimo mix and is about three years old. She is up to date on shots and weighs about 22 pounds. She loves to play with the other dogs and is a bit shy but warms up to you when she gets to know you. She likes to talk and likes lots of love and attention. She would be better suited to a home with a fenced yard. She has now been around children. She likes to snuggle in bed and is better with women than men. |

Ginger is about 2 years old. I was told that the father was black lab, and the mother was a mixed breed but unsure of what. She is very energetic and loves to play fetch and she loves to play in water. Just wondering if what others might think her breeds are. Thanks |

we have no idea what she is mixed with. she is too small
to have shepherd in her, maybe she does. who knows? she is very
sweet. my mom inherited her when my grandmother (her mother) passed away in 2003 from pancreatic cancer. |

we were told that she was australian shepherd when we got her at the pound, she was 6-8 weeks old, with about 7 others, some were brown, most were black like her. she's about 17inches tall, and 30lbs. she is currently 1 year old.

Gracie was adopted from Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem, MA after being rescued by Old Fella Burke County Rescue in Waynesboro, GA. (Where she'd been left tied up in a good samaritan's backyard.) She is about 9 months old and weighs 15lbs. She stands about 15 inches at the shoulder. EVERYONE has a different opinion on what breed/s she is. She definitely has some kind of coursing hound in her (either Saluki or Whippet) because of her sleek build. Her face looks almost Papillion or spaniel-esque. |

Gracie's litter was found abandoned in a field so I have no background on her parents. The pups were very skinny and went to a foster home where they stayed until they were healthy enough to go to their forever homes. The shelter listed her as an American Bulldog / Staffordshire Terrier mix expected to be a medium size dog at 50-55 pounds. When we took her in for her rabies vaccine at 4 months she weighed 37 pounds and she is growing rapidly. She is about 4 1/2 months old in these photos. She is a sweetie - loves everyone, especially children, will play with any dog from a Chihuahua to a Great Dane. Her favorite activities are running in the woods and hunting for birds, rabbits and squirrels. UPDATE 10-1-09 Gracie is 5 months old and weighs 48.8 pounds! |

I have had Grover for a little more than ten years now. I know that his mom was a cocker spaniel, and I have always thought that he was part shepherd. In this picture he just had his hair cut, but it does grow out extremely thick and long. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Gunny is a wild child. He loves to play with Cher and Roo. He goes non-stop all day. He is a lap puppy. We rescued Gunny from a high kill shelter. We think he is a Basenji and
Italian Greyhound mix. But who knows. Gunny is not good at all with strangers. He barks
And doesn’t trust anyone he doesn’t know. At this time he is not available till we work on some of his insecurities. He was pitched over the fence at the shelter. They came to work one morning and there was Gunny. Poor little guy has grown on me. He just clings to me.
He loves to give me kisses and is always on my lap. He is approximately 1 year old.
Life is sure a lot better for him now.

Stray. She found me at 10 weeks, nearly dead from dehydration and full of worms. I took her to the vet, then filed a lost-n-found report with no response, she was mine after 30 days. We think she is pit bull with a little something else. Large size dog, dark brown/black brindle with a white star on her chest. She's got a wrinkly mouth, brown eyes. Big paws, butt is a bit higher than her front. Loving family dog, pushover with family but does have some animal aggression. Deep bark. |

we got Harley for free from someone my boyfriend used to work for... they told us he was a full-blooded pitbull... but we are starting to wonder.he is supposedly around 5-7 months oldbut he only weighs about 25lbs, and he is rather short for a pit. he also has an underbite and a 'mohawk' |

Harri is a 2-year-old coonhoud, or so we've been told by the Humane Society. Her original shelter called her a Doberman mix, but that shelter was pretty sad and seemed to make stuff up about their animals. Her bark is not extremely loud, which is in contrast to all I've read about the coonhound breed. She appears to me to be long and lean, and she has a very short coat, which does not shed too much, big feet, and a long tail that's deadly when she whips it about. She is very active and loves to play, play, play! She also likes her walks, too, and she goes about them with her nose on the ground. Sometimes I have her wear a back pack on our walks just to tire her out. She gathers her energy by snoozing on the couch a good part of the afternoon. When she wakes up, the squeaky toys are at risk of being torn apart! She loves to play fetch with them and to make them squeak. A lot. That's when she's not busy pulling out their stuffing and pulling out the squeaker. She also gets into barking jags which sometimes land her in her "quiet room" where she can relax and settle down, which she does immediately and without complaint. Can anyone tell me if she's all coonhound or does she sound like a mixture of breeds? |

Harry is a sweet dog who can never resist a good companion, furry or not! He was a stray when we saw him at the animal shelter, and the second my sister saw him, she couldn't resist and we can't imagine a day with Harry being there! |

We adopted Heidi last year. She is almost 9 months old. When we got her they said she was a SharPei mix. We are thinking Sharpei/American Staffordshire...or maybe boxer. She is only 30 lbs. though, so maybe not staffordshire. She is full of energy but very affectionate and clingy. We love her sooo much and really want to know what she is because we want to find another mix like her! Please help! |

Hunter's happy day has arrived. He was adopted on Sept. 30 to a loving new family where he will be well cared for and a total family member. After suffering through some hardships at the hands of abusive owners, Hunter will never have to worry about that again.
Evaluated at the vet for adoptability, he passed with flying colors. He is totally non-aggressive, loves people, good with children 5 years and up and other dogs, loves to play. He is a sweet, sweet dog. He has lots of puppy energy and can get hyper when someone shows love and kindness to him. Something he hasn't had much of in his short life. With the proper training, he will make a wonderful addition to a loving family.
